Cocktail Cyclone Portable Drink Mixer

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Cocktail Cyclone Portable Drink MixerDrinking is fun on its own, but why not add a little something more? If you like cocktails or you have a friend who does, this would make a great present. It’s useful and it looks damn good.

The Cocktail Cyclone Portable Drink Mixer is a shaker that you don’t have to shake. You just put all the ingredients in, push a switch and tada! Instant drink, no effort.

Ok, maybe it’s not for everyone. If you’re an expert bartender, I doubt you’ll want to let go of control, but for a newbie like me it would be golden.

Unfortunately there’s no photo of it in action, but I think it would look pretty impressive.

Socket Pocket

Socket PocketA while ago we had the Cell Phone Holder, a device with a plastic “shelf” to put your various devices on while charging. Since it’s such a great idea, someone else came up with a different (better?) approach.

The Socket Pocket employs the same basic technique: something next to your outlet that holds the device. The difference is that, in this case, the phone or iPod or PDA or whatever sits in a plastic pocket, so it is also protected from getting hit and/or falling off. I know me, and I tend to run into things… The pocket is big enough for an iPod to fit in, as you can see from this picture.

Socket Pocket

All in all, the Socket Pocket seems to me better than the Cell Phone Holder, because you can be sure your phone stays there and doesn’t end up on the floor (unless there’s an earthquake, in which case you might not have a floor anymore, anyway).

Pink Seal Taser

Pink Seal TaserIn today’s world, you need to be able to protect yourself. Even if it doesn’t physically harm you, getting groped by some loser on the street is definitely not fun.

So I give you… the cute pink seal? Well… yes and no. It looks like a harmless little cell phone charm. But it is, in fact, a taser. So if a guy gives you a hard time, he’ll have a nasty surprise when he sees that you are not quite as defenseless as he thought.

However, it is not a real self-defence weapon, as the electric shock is not that strong. The surprise might scare the harraser off, but I think a better use would be scaring your friends.

And, as a personal sidenote, 8 cm (3.14 in) would be too big for my already full bag…

Motorized Ice Cream Cone

Motorized Ice Cream ConeThere’s lazy, and then there’s LAZY. Lazy is leaving your dishes in the sink until you run out of clean plates. LAZY is buying a device to spin your ice cream.

It’s called the Motorized Ice Cream Cone. You have to put ice cream in it and stick out your tongue. It spins, you make no effort. You are officially the laziest person ever.

The only use I can see for this is as a prank gift, along with a diploma for laziest person ever. And maybe someone should invent an automatic food chewer…

How To Spot a Cylon

How To Spot a CylonThe Cylons were created by man. They evolved. They rebelled. There are many copies. And they have a plan.

We viewers still don’t know what that plan is, but it never hurts to be on the lookout. And for this, the first thing you have to know is what you’re looking for.

From QuantumMechanix comes the awsome How To Spot a Cylon Poster. It features 10 tips on identifying a cylon, such as:

  • Do they say God instead of Gods?
  • Have you seen them before, but you know it’s not the same person?
  • Does their spine glow red when they get… excited?
  • Do they seem to hear music that no one else can hear?
  • Do they exhibit sociopathic behavior around other humans, especially defenseless children?

We must work together to fight the cylon threat.

Illuminating Hair Strands

Illuminating Hair StrandsSome people have that inner shine, you know? But sometimes you want to really shine. Boring office parties. Friends’ parties that cute guy is attending too. Disco. You could go for tacky shiny clothes, but that probably won’t attract the kind of attention you want.

For a change, you could light up your hair. No, do not set it on fire. What I’m suggesting is to use Illuminating Hair Strands. You grandma will be appaled, but techy people and/or ravers will probably be fascinated.

Of course, they’re made for wearing in the dark. They’s look like bits of plastic stuck to your hair by daylight - but by nighttime they turn into thin strands of moving light.

The only downside is that they work best with long hair, so if you just cut your hair… bad luck. However, they look very good with long hair and the barrette that holds the baterries and the light source can be easily hidden (or it can be worn like any other barrette).

Roll-Arounds Instant Wheels

Instant WheelsWhat do you do if you have to carry a large cabinet or cupboard? You call a couple of friends and hope you don’t scratch the floor (and that no one breaks his/her back). But what if you don’t have enough available friends?

There’s an alternative. Stick a couple of Roll-Arounds Instant Wheels on them and turn your heavy/large objects mobile. You just have to push them in place. The producers day the Instant Wheels works on vinyl, plastic, metal, corrugated board and more, so you can use them on pretty much anything.

“Now Slower and with More Bugs” Stickers

Remember the last time your favorite software manufacturer gave you the new version of his state-of-the-art program (or operating system…)? Only its new features were more like bugs? And it would crash every 2 hours? And the added bufeatures made it run slower? Well, this is for you.

“Now Slower and with More Bugs” Stickers - for having your say about the ‘improvements’. You could even use them on PCs shipped with a certain new OS… Although I wouldn’t suggest doing it in a store when the people in charge can see. They probably wouldn’t appreciate the humor.

The Simpsons Movie

The Simpsons MovieSpiderpig, Spiderpig
Does whatever a Spiderpig does…

Sorry, that’s so catchy. This really needs no introduction. The Simpsons Movie. Homer manages to trigger an environmental catastrophe, so the family flees to Alaska to escape the wrath of the townspeople. But of course it can’t end here…

You’ll like this even if you’re not a Simpsons fan, because it’s just so funny. But, of course, you’ll enjoy it more if you know the characters (most of the show regulars make an appearance). And it’s got Spiderpig!

Can he swing from a web
No he can’t, he’s a pig
Look out, it’s Spiderpig…

Tea Stick Infuser

Tea Stick InfuserMmmm… tea. There should be a special word for people like us. Teaholics, maybe. My friends have learned not to let me near the tea department in a store…

This nifty device is very shiny - and overpriced. But it looks oh so cool… And it’s very simple: you just fill the Tea Stick Infuser with tea and you swirl it in a cup of hot water. You get tea in a classy way and you’ll definitely impress your tea-crazy friends.

The only problem is that, nice as it may look, $20 is a bit too much. However, I’m sure it would make a nice gift. Not extremely practical (it can only make one cup of tea, after all), but impressive and unique.
