3 Mile Pencil

I keep writing about gadgets and gizmos, and sometimes I feel like some companies are competing for the “most useless object” title. If I see another every day object with added USB and LEDs and sold as a “novelty gift” I’m going to scream. At least some people can be more original.
The 3 Mile Pencil doesn’t do anything special compared to a normal pencil. It’s not 3 miles long, and it’s not even very large. What it does have is a ruler that calculates how much you wrote. In theory (assuming you never break the tip), if you would use the pencil to the end, add up all the text you wrote and measure the distance, it would be exactly 3 miles.
Who cares? Some might, for about a minute. After that, it’s just a pencil. But at least it’s cheap. And if you like statistics you can come up with all sorts of numbers, like you could circle your office building 2 times with the amount of lines you’re drawn so far. Or that you could copy Shakespeare’s work by hand with only 22 of these pencils. (Of course, everything depends on your handwirting, so these numbers are not very reliable.)
How much under $29.99?
A lot: ~$3.40 on GenieGadgets.com.
