Ninja Star Push Pins

Ninja Star Push PinsYour office is a boring place. Yes, it is. But we’ve got just the way to spice it up… and make your co-workers cower in fear: a couple of Ninja Star Push Pins in well-chosen places.

They’re fairly harmless, but look pretty impressive until you realize they’re not really embedded in your desk and the “I HATE U” note on it. But next time… you never know.

Alternately, they can make fun props for important business presentations. Extra points if one of the bigshots smirks when he sees what’s keeping up the sheet with the marketing plan.

Pi Symbol Ice Cube Tray

Pi Symbol Ice Cube TrayMaths geeks have parties?

Difficult to believe, but we investigated a little deeper and found unbelievable facts.

Starting from the assumption that this age-old rumor is true, we have uncovered one of the ritual vessels they use in their activities: the Pi Symbol Ice Cube Tray. Imperfect cubes could never satisfy their quest for perfection, but this… Ah, imagine the fun! “Who can recite Pi with the more decimals?” The winner gets all the booze!

Seeing as 3/14 is a great celebration of their rite (at least in the States, because Europe doesn’t have 14 months), proper tools must be used. Don’t discriminate, get your friend some Pi ice right now!

Ultimate 5-in-1 Geek Pen

Ultimate 5-in-1 Geek PenJust like wannabe-MacGyvers need multitools, any wannabe geek needs a special pen – the more things it does, the better, extra points if they facilitate his interaction with his beloved gadgets.

The Ultimate 5-in-1 Geek Pen doesn’t seem exactly “ultimate”, but it qualifies as a pretty sweet thing nonetheless. It’s average size, but it manages to cram a lot of things in a small volume: a ballpoint pen, a stylus, a flexible-shaft flashlight, an UV light and a red laser pointer.

Don’t be underwhelmed, not everything needs to play mp3s and have an USB connection. Just think of the fun you’ll have with a cat and a laser! Plus, you know, tapping important things on your touchscreen and all that.
(Seriously, you just want to tease the cat while you’re writing to-do lists, admit it.)

MP3 Retro Speaker Amp

MP3 Retro Speaker AmpCan real rock be listened to through tiny portable speakers? Yes, although why would you want to listen to anything like that?

The best way to listen to a band is live on stage, smashing guitars and all… but if all you’ve got is a puny iPod, you can get a tiny bit of that atmosphere back with the MP3 Retro Speaker Amp.

It can output 5W of power and gets its juice for batteries or an USB port, but the best part is that the little Bass, Treble and Volume dials are adjustable.

However, as nice as it looks, I can’t help but thinking it’s a bit lame. Rock is supposed to be big and loud, after all…

Zome Crazy Bubbles

Zome Crazy BubblesAlthough it’s listed under “3-7 years”, the Zome Crazy Bubbles kit looks way too fun to be left for kids only. Parents wil be the luckiest: blowing bubbles for the children makes you a good father, not an irresponsible adult. The rest of us will have to brave dissaproving stares, but it’s so worth it.

And seriously, just look at the list of things you can create: bubble 3-D squares, helixes, banana shapes, and even a four dimensional hypercube. I don’t even know what a hypercube is, so it just can’t be a simple kid’s toy!

The set comes with no less than 72 pieces than can be assembled in countless ways to get the weirdest bubbles: 12 white nodes, 36 each of 3 lengths blue struts, 12 each of 3 lengths yellow struts and 12 each of 3 lengths red struts.

Micro Speaker Keychain

Micro Speaker KeychainMusic brings many gifts, among which the desire to share it with the world… through bad phone speakers in a crowded subway, especially if said music falls into the broad category of “shit”.

But there’s a way to improve that experience… yes, another mini-speaker! This one’s actually smaller then the rest, so it’s a Micro Speaker Keychain.

Small but powerful though: it’s got an internal amp so it’s pretty loud… loud enough to get you hateful glares, at least. It charges through USB and connects to any 3.5 headphone jack, so it’s extremely convenient to use.

(But only around people who asked for the music, we hope.)

Facebook Status t-shirt

Facebook Status t-shirtDid you ever wish you could show your Facebook status to the whole world, even when they’re not online? Well, you can’t. But a new app takes one step forward in that direction: StatusKing brings us the Facebook Status t-shirt.

It’s partly an app with a contest and partly a t-shirt creator. The latter is simple: you choose a status and it gets printed on a t-shirt using a screenshot of your profile page. It doesn’t change, but it’s a start…

You can also get it for free, if you get creative: by submitting your status to the app and getting enough votes, you can win a t-shirt printed with that message. Three chances every week, so start posting those witty words!

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes t-shirt

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes t-shirtIf you’ve not been living under an entertainment rock for the past few months, you know that the Watchmen movie is coming. And in case you don’t know what the big deal is, you should learn that Watchmen is a hugely successful comic book series (with a lot of fans).

And what do fans do? Look for related merchandise, of course, and the Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes t-shirt is a good candidate for “best Watchmen apparel”. The Latin phrase is, of course, the origin of the comics’ title, and it translates to “Who watches the watchmen”.

The t-shirt even matches the colors of the book cover – you’d recognize that black and yellow anywhere. Not to mention it makes the wearer look smart (look, a foreign language!).

Coffee & Tea Glass Filter Straws

Coffee & Tea Glass Filter StrawsDrinking coffee or tea can be a simple activity, or it can be a ritual complete with several tools for proper enjoyment.

The Coffee & Tea Glass Filter Straws are tools… of a more unusual kind. They aim to eliminate the need for any find of filters and bags, but it’s debatable whether they’d work or not.

Seeing as the two brews are different, the straws aren’t the same either: the tea version finishes with a glass strainer, while the coffee one has a mini French Press filter on the end.

It’s a matter of “tried to be believed” here: the coffee filter seems ok, but loose tea leaves tend to clog up anything in their area, so that filter might not work very well. And at $20, I for one don’t want to be the first to try it.

Solar System Floor Puzzle

Solar System Floor PuzzleThe floor is usually covered in boring carpets, but for some lucky kids with cool parents, it could be covered in stars. Well, one star and a bunch of planets.

The Solar System Floor Puzzle is 2 x 3 feet, but doesn’t come with the 5.000 regular pieces that would be needed to cover such a big chunk. 48 big ones is enough to recreate the solar system and, even though for an adult the size might not sound so impressive, kids are bound to have a blast playing and learning.

Because children and cardboard don’t go very well together, the puzzle is 20% thicker than its run of the mill cousins and comes with an easy to wipe surface. I can hear some parents sighing with relief now.
