The Digidude

DigiDudes
Every decent photographer needs his monster, right? I mean his tripod. Would you trust this pink dude to hold your camera? He seems to take his job pretty seriously, if you ask me. And he has four funky friends just like him, for you too choose from or collect. They’re called the DigiDudes and I adore their deceitful personality. They look like monster keychains, act like monster keychains, but they hide a tiny screw inside their stomach that makes them portable, easy to use tripods.

When in need, simply screw off your dude’s head and pull out his retractable legs for the perfect on-the-go camera mount. It can hold most point and shoot cameras, flipcams, and more.

The interesting part is that they are on pre-sale (and only 112 of them left). So, if you really want to make that photographer friend of yours feel special, get one for him now. Those photographers are pretty snobs, you know.

Smiles:-) Wheels

Smiles:-) WheelsFitting wheels on small pieces of furniture can make for easy and quick home redecoration, but most of them are purely functional. If you’re dreaming of the perfect children’s room, a bunch of Smiles:-) Wheels would look much better.

They come in 2 types – with or without brakes – and 4 cute models: cow, bear, mouse and plane. The metallic part can be mounted on virtually any piece of furniture with enough even pieces, but… there’s a but. You pay a (large) premium for having cute cow support your kids’ cabinets: €6.80 for the no-wheel version and €8.77 for the other, which can add up to a lot in the end.

Pizza Boss 3000 Pizza Slicer

Pizza Boss 3000 Pizza SlicerHow serious are you about your pizza? Do you hope it comes pre-cut, do you butcher it to death with a blunt knife? Or are you a real pizza gourmet? No, I don’t know what that is either, but probably the type of person who would use a Pizza Boss 3000 Pizza Slicer.

It does sound impressive: tough engineering-grade plastics, laser-etched stainless steel blade with a removable shield for easy clean-up… It’s the kind of thing no one needs, but everybody wants. How can you not when it can even slice through anchovies?

Seeing as it’s only $15, it’s going to head a lot of “gifts to buy” lists soon enough.

The Hoodie

The HoodieProtecting your digital camera should be the no. 1 priority when carrying it around – no camera means no photos, not to mention the cost of getting a new one. As someone who’s been looking for a good and pretty case for about 6 months, I can tell you most are impractical, expensive and/or plain boring.

The Hoodie is a very pleasant surprise: it looks sturdy, has a very cute stripey pattern and tightly hugs a compact camera to keep it safe from bumps and falls. As you can tell from the picture, it only fits small cameras unfortunately, so you’ll have to look elsewhere for your DSLR.

The case also comes with a stretchable internal pocket for various accessories like baterries and memory card, plus a wrist and belt strap to keep it close at all times. Each is unique, so you don’t get to choose your stripes…

Ninja Star Push Pins

Ninja Star Push PinsYour office is a boring place. Yes, it is. But we’ve got just the way to spice it up… and make your co-workers cower in fear: a couple of Ninja Star Push Pins in well-chosen places.

They’re fairly harmless, but look pretty impressive until you realize they’re not really embedded in your desk and the “I HATE U” note on it. But next time… you never know.

Alternately, they can make fun props for important business presentations. Extra points if one of the bigshots smirks when he sees what’s keeping up the sheet with the marketing plan.

d_skins Protective Disc Skins

d_skins Protective Disc Skinsd_skins Protective Disc Skins are an interesting idea. But “interesting” is a word that can encompass many meanings, and in this case it’s both good and bad.

The concept is great: laser-transparent skins that protect your CDs and DVDs all the time (even when played) can save a lot of important data, from holiday photos to company records to favorite video games. It takes seconds to place a d_skin on a disc and even if it gets scratched, the disc stay intact.

However, the price isn’t so great: at almost $2.5 per skin they’re much more expensive than a blank DVD, so unless you’re very rich you probably won’t cover your entire movie and music collection in these.

But the bottom line is they’re useful. Since everyone has a few treasured DVDs, a pack of skins won’t be such a huge investment, and you won’t stress next time you happen to drop the one with your marriage photos…

Sweet Tooth t-shirt

Sweet Tooth t-shirt

Now we know why dinosaurs really hunted each other: they weren’t carnivores, they were candyvores!

This state of affairs gave birth to the adorable Sweet Tooth t-shirt and its pinata-style violence, and it’s difficult not to love it. That T-Rex looks a bit menacing, but if you don’t have lollipops as your innards you should be fine. Right?

P.S. This totally asks for a “nom nom nom”.

iRish t-shirt

iRish t-shirtEverything is going the Apple way… even Saint Patrick’s Day. But it doesn’t look half bad, so the Steve Jobs fanboys win this one.

The iRish t-shirt comes with the iconic iPod style of design, and of course the white I-know-they-suck-but-they-came-in-the-box headphones.

Not truly impressive, but a nice t-shirt nevertheless in case you want to wear something special on March 17th but would rather drop the leprechauns and Guinness beer.

Clear Butter Gadget

GadgetI always use margarine on my sandwiches for one reason: I hate spreading cold butter. Yes, it tastes much better, but you either have to wait until it warms up a bit, shave thin strips over and over again or risk squishing your bread.

Is that reason enough to buy a $15 device? Not really… but then again, who knows.

The Clear Butter Gadget was designed to do one thing: squeeze out a ribbon of butter that’s just soft enough to spread. However, if you look at is as a storage tool too, it starts to be more appealing: the butter stays inside and never in contact with the air, so it will keep for longer.

Just another silly kitchen gadget? Perhaps not, after all. A tad overpriced, but worth it if used for a couple of years.

Dreaming of Androids t-shirt

Dreaming of Androids t-shirtHave you ever wondered what sheep dream about? Jumping fences? I doubt it.

But now, the question is finally answered by the Dreaming of Androids t-shirt. Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? Well, as long as we’re talking about electric sheep, at least (look at that little power cord, aww).

Best suited for Philip K. Dick fans, of course, but the design is so good it would be a shame to not recommend it to everyone, really.
