USB Notebook Retractable WebCam 2

USB Notebook Retractable WebCam 2I was under the impression that webcams are so 2000, but I suppose there’s people who still use them. And I like to see that some manufacturers are focusing on saving space. Be it for travel or for easy storage, a compact webcam is a great idea (I never liked the big round ones anyway).

The USB Notebook Retractable WebCam 2 is, of course, a laptop webcam, which already means it’s smaller than usual. However, compared to my laptop cam at least, it’s flatter so easier to store/carry, and it features a central hub where the cable can be retracted while not in use.

Nothing special concerning specs; if you want a great webcam, search someplace else. But if you’re on the market for something inexpensive and good for travel, this is just the thing.

Smiley Face Plastic Bag Dispenser

Smiley Face Plastic Bag DispenserMy kitchen always seemed to be missing something, but I finally figured out what it was: a smiley face spitting out plastic bags.

Its official name is Smiley Face Plastic Bag Dispenser, but come on, look what it’s doing. We’re feeding him the best bags we’ve got and he’s refusing them.

On the serious side… my kitchen really would need something like this. I hate throwing away supermarket bags so they tend to reside in little piles on or under the table… there’s got to be a better place for them. And a dispenser that can be stuck to a wall or the fridge with suction cups is one fine idea.

Evolution is Following Me t-shirt

Evolution is Following Me t-shirtThe rendition of evolution that uses several ancestors of Homo Sapiens Sapiens lining up one after the other has been used so many times it’s instantly recognizable to most of us. But what if the poor modern man gets sick of it one day?

The answer is on the Evolution is Following Me t-shirt. Honestly, having a couple of cavemen walking after you day in and day out can be stressful. And our higher IQ lets us express our frustrations very eloquently, so I for one congratulate the guy. Why should he suffer for our sense of fashion?

Condom Dispenser

Condom DispenserKeeping condoms in a drawer is so passé… what you need is a Condom Dispenser on your nightstand.

Condo-M, as it’s called, is basically a small metal tower with a tray that can be pulled out for easy access to prophylactics. “Protection is a turn on” indeed, as the product description puts it, but… a condom dispenser?

Protection is good. But when you need a special device for your condoms, that says “I sleep with so many women that a regular box isn’t enough”. And I don’t think that’s the kind of guy women go nuts for.

What-Nots Chest of Drawers

What-Nots Chest of DrawersIf you feel your desk needs more clutter, how about forgetting all the awful USB-powered gizmos and going for something better? Yes, there is life without USB!

The What-Nots Chest of Drawers is the perfect alternative for all those boxes with paperclips and pushpins you keep laying around. And it’s also funny. The faux-French “Junque” is delicious, and the others aren’t bad either. They describe their contents perfectly, after all.

What, that’s not proper labeling? As if anyone knows what’s hiding under the piles of paper on the desk… The usual approach works here too: remember where you put everything or go by trial and error.

Star Trek ‘Know Your Spock’ t-shirt

Star Trek 'Know Your Spock' t-shirtYesterday was Star Trek’s birthday; on September 8, 1966 the world first saw the Enterprise boldly go where no one had gone before.

I don’t even like Star Trek, really. After years of reading SF it’s too simplistic and clichéd. But even I can’t deny it had a huge influence and that I probably wouldn’t be enjoying Battlestar Galactica right now if it weren’t for Captain Kirk and his crew (though I like Picard better).

42 years later, the consumerist society can celebrate by buying a t-shirt. You need the Star Trek ‘Know Your Spock’ t-shirt, really. How else would you tell which Spock is good and which is evil? Your life could depend on it. Go watch some old episodes wearing this, you know you want to.

Not a Paper Towel

Not a Paper TowelBeing green is trendy, there’s not doubt about it. But, for once, trendy serves a purpose. If your life isn’t complete if you don’t join the latest fad, for all means, let it be an eco one.

Not a Paper Towel isn’t anything else but a new trend and it follows the Not A Paper Cup. When two pieces of cloth cost $20, you know what it means (and no, the text and the recycle image doesn’t make them any more special). But, even though you can get the same thing for a fraction of the price, these make a statement. They’re manufactured ecologically and, if they’ll stop at least a few people for using a bunch of paper towels when cloth would be better suited… they’ve reached their goal.

The Tool

The ToolMany-in-one tools are fascinating. The idea that you can just throw something in the bag and have a way out of sticky situations is comforting.

If most such items address the regular guy, The Tool is made especially for surfers. It comes with usual stuff like an allen wrench, standard and phillips screwdrivers, but then it’s also got things that probably don’t mean anything for a non-surfer (me included): a built in wax comb, a leash string, and a leash hook.

Since it’s designed to get up close and personal with water, it’s made from stainless steel. The leash string doubles as a lanyard, so there’s no reason The Tool shouldn’t be at hand when needed.

Lap Desks

Lap DesksIf you’ve got a laptop, there’s no point in keeping it on your desk all the time. And if yours is anything like mine… it might burns holes through your pants if you try to actually put in on your lap.

The Lap Desks are a simple solution, and they manage to solve a problem while also looking good. There’s 17 models in total, in 4 series: Antique, Stripes, Designer and Splash. There’ nothing new about them – even IKEA has beaded cushions laptop desks – but the designs make them much more attractive than regular ones.

And then, for the lazy and/or clumsy, there’s the cup holder. Finally, no more getting up for the coffee, and especially no more knocking liquids all over the couch!

Mini Ping Pong Table

Mini Ping Pong TableIf you want to play ping pong, you need to join a club or invest a fair amount of money. If you just want to have some fun and mess around, the Mini Ping Pong Table is just as good.

It’s really mini, measuring only 26″x 13″x 3.5″ (and 13″x 13″x 2″ when folded), so it would fit right in (literally, too) in a regular room. However, at this size the game isn’t anything like the real thing, which only makes it good for drunken college students who don’t care either way or for kids.

But this isn’t a bad thing. I got a miniature pool table when I was 12 and I loved it to bits. If you want to get your children into sports, it’s never a bad idea to start early.
