Everlast Boxing Glove Mobile Phone Holder

Everlast Boxing Glove Mobile Phone HolderSports fans, it’s about time someone stopped making geeky or girly products and thought of you. Today’s sport is one that seems to be mostly overlooked by the manufacturers: boxing. I haven’t seen boxing themed merchandise, except for actual gear, so this is a nice surprise.

The Everlast Boxing Glove Mobile Phone Holder is exactly what the name says. You put the phone in the glove, the lanyard around your neck, and hope would-be thieves are intimidated by the look of it (maybe they even think you’re really a boxer*).

However, unless you’re a boxing fan and want to show your love… don’t buy this. There’s tons where this came from, and most of them look better.

* N.B. Won’t work if you’re a scrawny nerd.

Fire Footbag

Fire FootbagAll right. I’ve seen stupid products over and over again, but this takes the cake. It’s in a league of its own. It might be fun, it’s not ugly, it’s not exactly useless… but it’s goddamn fire!

It’s called a Fire Footbag. It’s made of Kevlar. You’re supposed to light it on fire, then play with it. Can anyone see the problem here? You hit a freaking cocktail Molotov with your leg and pray you won’t catch fire?!

Right. If you’re suicidal, at least make sure you read the list of conditions you have to agree to when you purchase the “toy” (basically, don’t be a retard).

Insulated Evaporative Cooling Cap

Insulated Evaporative Cooling CapOh boy, summer is definitely here. You step out and instantly feel you’re meeeelting… Any solution to keep cool is fascinating right now.

The Insulated Evaporative Cooling Cap is one unusual idea. It looks just like a regular cap, but you are supposed to wear it wet. Which surprisingly doesn’t mean your head will get wet – just cool. The secret is a system called Hydroweave, that combines hydrophilic (water-attracting) and hydrophobic (water-rejecting) fibers in a three-layer fabric which conducts body heat upwards, retaining the cool water which evaporates slowly. Your head and hair will stay dry at all times, because the cap is lined with an impermeable layer.

I have to admit that I think the idea is brilliant. One of the most pleasant sensations is having a cool head when it’s hot outside, but my method (wetting my hair) has one disadvantage: hair gets dry in no time.

Jetsleeper

JetsleeperI’ve never had to make a long plane journey, but I think that getting on a low-cost flight after 1 hour of sleep that night is one of the worst flying experiences I could hope to experience (barring turbulence and the like). All you want is to finally get rest… and you discover that the seat wasn’t exactly made for that.

I’ve used a standard neck rest pretty extensively, but until you manage to prop it in the right position it’s difficult to sleep on. The Jetsleeper 2 looks a bit sillier, but seems to work better – if you’re short enough. It supports the neck and you can probably sleep soundly because your head has something to rest on.

But… if you’re tall then your head will reach over the head rest, making this virtually impossible to use – especially if you’re in economy, with no leg room and therefore no possibility to lower yourself in the seat.

KOR One

KOR OneRecycling and reusing have become buzzwords in recent years. Sometimes it becomes overwhelming, but this one thing that I don’t mind hearing about all the time. The more people talk about it, the more others will learn about the ideas and principles of green living and, even if just a fraction of them actually do something about it, it’s a step forward.

The KOR One is the lastest blogosphere “star” in the eco department. And it’s nothing more than a water bottle… or is it? KOR aims to make reusable water bottles cool – and pricing them at almost $30 might work.

I have to admit: it does look impressive. Nice design. BPA-free. Probably easier to reuse than a standard PET. Though $30 still looks a lot to me… But anyway, I am not the target for this: the tap water in my area is not exactly drinkable (it won’t kill you, but you don’t want know what’s in there). So I’m sorry planet, I’m sticking to bottled water since I don’t enjoy drinking rust and residue.

Cow Skull USB Flash Drive Lighter

Cow Skull USB Flash Drive LighterI’d gone for too long without seeing an USB convergence gadget. It was long overdue. And it was there, waiting for me in the form of a cow skull.

It might sound bad, but it isn’t really. This Cow Skull USB Flash Drive Lighter isn’t suited for trendy girls or nerds, but for a tough guy? Sure. It has a lighter (because what’s a bad guy without a cigarette?) and 4GB of storage (because even bad boys live in the 21st century), plus an embossed skull.

(Also suited for Bon Jovi fans, since Jon has a tattoo of the same skull on his arm.)

Light ‘N Go Umbrella

Light 'N Go UmbrellaEven if you’re not a big fan of carrying an umbrella around, sometimes it’s necessary – unless you like being soaked to the bone by cold rain. And since rain clouds mean darkness, some light can come in very handy.

This is probably what the manufacturers of the Light ‘N Go Umbrella thought of when they combined a regular umbrella with a flashlight. Personally, I’ve never seen it get so dark because of the rain, but for some reason I still can’t explain… I like this. Maybe because I never have a flashlight when I need one…

Not a particularly useful gadget, but it has two things going for it:
1. Good for travel, saves space, both umbrella and flashlight are recommended when traveling.
2. It’s a convergence item without USB. Phew.

Self-Sufficient t-shirt

Self-Sufficient t-shirtI’m not a big fan of toilet humor, because it usually ends up being disgusting, not funny, but the What Would McGyver Do? t-shirt was great. Hmm, could we be seeing a trend in tasteful (no pun intended) toilet imagery?

Well, it’s probably not a trend (yet?), but the Self-Sufficient t-shirt is another potty joke I find very cool (I was about to say funny, but it’s not laugh-out-loud material, it’s just understated humor). So, perks of being a mummy, #231: You won’t ever run out of toilet paper.

Of course, if you’re a mummy it means you already died, and maybe some crafty ancient Egyptian doctor took out your guts, so you won’t ever need toilet paper again. But that’s just a technicality.

Clear Top Ring Box

Clear Top Ring BoxIf you’ve got a lot of jewelry, some items remains unworn because you just don’t run into them… And it’s difficult to keep a mental list of all the necklaces or rings you have.

A Clear Top Ring Box sounds like a very good idea for a girl who has a lot of jewelry. One, you can easily see through it, so no more opening and closing a dozen boxes. Two, it keep everything in order, so you won’t have look for that ruby ring from grandma under a bunch of bracelets. Three, it’s big enough to fit a lot of rings.

Burton Vapor USB Flash Drive

Burton Vapor USB Flash DriveIt’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a flash drive with a really impressive design. Who cares about what a drive looks like? Well, there’s people who want a lot of storage with a good value for money and don’t care about the appearance of their stick, and then there’s people who want to make a fashion/style statement.

The Burton Vapor USB Flash Drive, designed in partnership with snowboard manufacturer Burton, is definitely stylish. Shaped like a snowboard and with a cool black & white design, it just looks different from everything else on the market. It offers the usual 2GB storage and USB 2.0 interface, but it’s the design that sets is apart.

If black is not your thing, you can check out the other two snowboard models available: the Feelgood and the SnowDrive.
