All of us morning-haters have wanted, at one point or another, to throw the alarm clock to the floor. It’s not its fault we need to wake up at an ungodly hour, but since we can’t get our anger out on another thing… What usually stops me is the fact that I use my cell phone as alarm clock, and it would be a bad idea indeed to break it.

The Throw Alarm Clocks make our poor anger management their selling point. What can be better than an alarm clock that needs to be throw to be turned off? Beside offering a way to deal with the horror of waking up, these clocks also make sure you won’t just go back to sleep. It might be easy to reach out a hand and push a button, but when you have to throw a ball hard enough to make the alarm stop you’ll probably be half awake already.

You can choose one of four styles (cricket, golf, and football or footbal special edition silver) and they have all the standard features: time, date, LCD display, alarm/hourly chime. Just don’t throw them too hard, because they can still get broken.

What’s the catch? Well, there’s a propeller on top of the clock. The alarm goes off, the propeller flies across the room – and the alarm doesn’t stop until you put it back. The theory is that, by the time you find the damn thing under the bed or desk or hidden in your pile of clothes, you’ll already be awake enough not to crawl back to bed. It’s a totally evil method of waking up, but hey, it works. You’ll probably hate your clock in a few days, but at least you’ll get to work in time so you can make money to buy friendlier gadgets.

Most of us need something very loud ringing in our ears. I chose to set the alarm on my phone to play Monty Python’s “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” to get up in a good mood, but the next item is more effective for people who tend to fall back asleep.

The Police Alarm Clock will make you wonder what law you broke – at least the first time.
This clock has many functionalities and a very long descriptive name: LCD Alarm Clock and Calendar, with Indoor Temperature Display and Pen Holder. Clocks are all over the place and, since most people have a computer on their desk, the calendar feature is also easily available. But knowing the temperature fulfills an old curiosity of mine, and being able to save space with the included pen holder is a plus. Also, I like the little “basket” design. It gives it a little personality.
