I believe we are kind of like the “text generation”, where texting has become a regularly used verb and QUERTY keyboards on phones are a must. We know all the emoticons by heart and we could text in our sleep. Maybe some of you do it in the shower too, it you are skilled enough as not to get your phone wet. The Suction Foot. Or Mommy’s Helper, as Amazon suggests. Or the Portable Foot Rest for Tub & Shower. Oh, this device can stir quite a bit of controversy. I’m sure the people who came up with this, erm, device, were well intended, but it seems that naughty women (and possibly men) might be using it for extracurricular activities. On that note, I really hope you’re gonna use to shave your legs. :))

I’m not sure if to be totally freaked out by this or if it’s actually useful. Hygiene addicts, this goes out to you (and me, since I am one myself). If you love your bidet at home and, obviously, can’t take it along during a trip, I have a viable option for you: the Sanicare Portable Bidet.

Lav Nav Motion Activated Toilet Nightlight

Since we’re in the bathroom, I’d like to share an interesting discovery I’ve made today. This is something that will make our lives (girls, I’m talking about us here) much easier and way less complicated. It’s the Lav Nav Motion Activated Toilet Nightlight. Don’t get fooled by the incredibly long name (oh, boy, can they name them or what?), because there’s actually something good to it: this nightlight will make sure that your friend/boyfriend/roommate etc. hits the target. Plus, it looks kinda cool.

iPod/MP3 Shower Radio

It seems I’m very much into music gadgets today, but I just couldn’t help myself not to write about this one. Not many of us have fancy shower cabins with mp3 players, water jets coming out of the walls and lights that turn on whenever you step inside, so the shower is mostly a dull moment, except for those of us who like to sing in the shower.
I’d rather listen to my favorite tunes while I do that, so I think this pretty little iPod/MP3 Shower Radio could come in pretty handy. Put your MP3 or your iPod into the waterproof compartment and shower on! Oh, and it has a radio too and a fog free mirror. There’s just one more thing I would’ve liked for it to do: give me a massage. Seriously now, it’s a cute little thing.

Periodic Table Shower Curtain

This post should begin with something like “If you’re a chemistry buff, you’re going to love this”. But then I thought: why? You don’t have to be crazy about chemistry, the periodic table is elementary. And the Periodic Table Shower Curtain is way better than all the flowers and abstract patterns you can usually buy.

What’s not to like? It’s got pretty colors and it’s educational… it will at least give you something to do instead of stare at the walls when you’re in the bathroom. And you’ll have a good excuse to take long showers during exam periods.

Wasting water is bad, it’s been drilled into us in the past few years. Shower – good, bath – bad. Ok, but do you know how much water you use when you shower? Those “ideal” 3-5 minutes are an estimate, but with the different showerheads and flow rates you never know exactly how much water pours into your drains.

Or… well, you could. The Showerdrop does just that: measures water consumption and warns you when you go over 35 liters. It can’t force you to jump out of the bathroom, of course, but it might make you feel a little guilty. Or a little proud, if you notice you used less than the recommended quantity.

If you do the maths, less than $20 could save you a lot of money in the long run – especially if the whole family uses it.

Breast self-examination is very important in detecting the first signs of cancer, so it’s nothing to be joked about. Examining oneself monthly can be a life saver… but I doubt anything bad can happen if you don’t do it on the same day every month, and you can’t forget for months at a time if you really care about it.

Let’s say that women will forget, however. If you want to be 100% sure you’re checking your health regularly, the Cue is the perfect device for the job. It’s a complex wall-mounted timer that syncs to a woman’s menstrual cycle and reminds her to examine her breasts when they are least tender. The way I see, it’s just a fancy device most of us could live without. But considering the hectic lives some have, a bit under $30 might be a small price to pay for good health.

Pond Wars Ducks

More than 30 years after the first movie, the Star Wars franchise is still going strong. It’s hard not be to jaded about it, not a day goes by without a new R2-D2 shaped pencil sharpener or Vader underwear. You can sell anything if you stick a well-known character on it, even though sometimes the products are questionable.

But… sometimes it’s worth it, and the Pond Wars Ducks are a perfect example. You take Star Wars, but you do more than slap an image on something; you remodel bath duckies, give them appropriate names (Duck Fadar, Pondtrooper, Princess Layer and Luke Pondwalker), add some LEDs and get a toy that’s cool for parents and kids. Furthermore, the lights only turn on in water, which might prove helpful with convincing the little ones that bathing is fun. Even the ducks love it!
