Gear Head Shampoo

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Gear Head ShampooReal men need real manly shampoo. None of those fake “for men” labels, and don’t even mention girly stuff! Being in close proximity of anything floral or pink would ruin the image.

So Gear Head Shampoo was born. It’s made for true men (or mechanics). Men who can (almost) wash their hair with motor oil. Rugged men who don’t need *spit* haircare.

All will be well. Until the other real men who come visiting realize that, no matter the bottle, it’s still shampoo, and it’s made to make you hair look and feel better. A few hours with the boys tinkering with a motorbike should solve that problem though… And hey, it’s cheap. Saving money for beer will be appreciated.

Infra Red Hairbrush

Infra Red HairbrushYou’ve bought all the personal care items you could think of. Short of going to a beauty parlor, there’s nothing else you could try at home: all the face creams, special shampoo, bubble baths filled with minerals… been there, done that.

But… never say never. Did you know there was such thing as a Infra Red Hairbrush? Well, now you do, and apparently it’s a big deal. Beside untangling your pretty locks, this hi-tech brush uses infra red to deliver heat and even massages your scalp.

The two AA batteries will make it heavier than a regular one, but not significantly. The real question is how much does pampering mean for you? If the answer is “a lot”, the (fairly high) price might be worth it. After all, head massages feel so good…

Shadow Shields

Shadow ShieldsMarketers still seem to think that if they make something in pink, women will flock around it. But unfortunately… they might be right. It looks very easy to sell unnecessary things to women.

The Shadow Shields are… let’s say “not something you’re likely to die without”. They’re half-moon adhesives meant to protect your face from make-up that could end up under your eyes and leave unpleasant marks… but is that so much of a problem? We could, you know, pay attention to what we’re doing. Or use a bit of make-up remover in case of an accident.

Indeed, they could be useful in the world of professional make-up artists who aim to create complex works of art; but in the average woman’s make-up kit? Please, you’re just going to work, not to a fashion show. Not that I should tell you how to spend your money… but I’ve got better things planned for it.

Ghoul-friend Gram

Ghoul-friend GramAlthough that’s the best part, Halloween doesn’t neccesarily need to be a scary holiday for everyone. And while it’s not traditionally an occasion to give gifts, your better half would probably appreciate a little something, especially if it’s their favorite holiday.

And what girl wouldn’t love a themed present? Ok, it would be nicer if you made it yourself, but the Ghoul-friend Gram doesn’t sound half bad either. It comes with some pumpkin body cream, a spooky candle, Halloween candy, a discount coupon and a message in a bottle (your text scribbled in an appropriately creepy way). You just need to write down her address and she’ll get a surprise on October 31st.

Lip Lights Ultra Shine Lip Gloss

Lip Lights Ultra Shine Lip GlossAnyone who’s ever said “how can you improve on that” has most likely been proven wrong by now. Anything can be improved - or at least changed in a way that’s considered better by some.

Lipstick is a pretty basic thing, but it now comes in various shapes and sizes, ready to use anytime. Literally. Even if it’s the middle of the night and there’s a power outage, there’s still a way to quickly apply some gloss without resorting to candles or flashlights.

How come? It’s called the Lip Lights Ultra Shine Lip Gloss and it’s the first lip gloss with LEDs. When you remove the cap, the concealed LEDs automatically turn on and point straight at your lips for a perfect finish. The side of the cap is mirrored so you could technically use it, but a larger one would be better.

The one issue that irks me is that automatic light. Which will finish first, the gloss or the battery?

Liquid Buds Eye Make Up Remover

Liquid Buds Eye Make Up RemoverDo women really like to carry all those beauty/care products around with them wherever they go? Really? I’ve had friends come over from half the country away with a bag full of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, two types of facial cream, make up remover and pads… Come on, you’re going away from home for 3 days, you don’t have to pack for the end of the world.

But, thinking about it and trying to travel light myself, I realized one of the problems: lack of smaller recipients. Everything comes in big bottles and, unless you have some small hotel-type bottles you can refill over and over again… you’re kind of screwed. This is why the Liquid Buds Eye Make Up Remover sounds like such a cool idea, not like yet another useless product aimed at beauty-obsessed women.

They look just like cotton buds, but they’re smarter: when you snap one end, the make up remover stored inside soaks the other end, and you can use it to retouch your make up on the go. And, of course, they take up much less space than a bottle of make up remover + pads/buds, which makes them perfect for travel or just for carrying around in your bag.

Pro-To-Go Lipstick

Pro-To-Go LipstickThe modern lipstick has been more or less the same ever since it was launched on the market. Yes, we’ve got liquid lipstick and gloss, but the old sticks are the same.

Well, not anymore. The Pro-To-Go Lipstick was created to solve one specific problem: one-handed maneuvers. If you’re holding your purse in one hand or, even worse, a couple of bags, holding the lipstick with two hands to remove the cap can be near impossible. So the Pro-To-Go can be operated with just one hand: slide it up, put it on, snap it shut. The lid opens and closes just by gliding a button up and down, which also solves another messy problem: lipstick squished on the top of the cap. It comes in 15 shades so you’ll probably find one that’s perfect for you.

LED Tweezers

LED TweezersBeauty products tend to be non-gadgety, which is why you haven’t seen many here. But today I ran into something a bit different from the stuff you can get in most stores.

Someone added extra functionality to a very old product. If you care about your looks you probably pluck your eyebrows periodically, but sometimes the conditions aren’t too friendly. Hostel bathrooms with bad lighting, power failures… a girl’s gotta face them all! Even normal bathrooms don’t have great light which is very inconvenient if you want to get those hard-to-see hairs.

That’s when the LED Tweezers come in. A LED was added to a normal tweezers, so, with the help of the on/off button, you can shine the light exactly at the desired spot and pluck away. The set is the size of a lipstick and it also includes a (tiny and probably difficult to use) mirror.
