Anti Sleep Driving Alarm

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Anti Sleep Driving AlarmFalling asleep at the wheel is one of the most dangerous things you can do while driving. We’ve all seen the news reports. It’s not pretty.

The Anti Sleep Driving Alarm is a great idea for anyone who has to drive for a long time or when tired. This device was developed especially for drivers and it works by letting off a piercing alarm if your head tilts forward more than 30 degrees. Of course, its use is not restricted to drivers: those night-long gaming sessions can be very tough, and at some point energizing drinks just don’t cut it anymore. Falling asleep during a raid can potentially be more dangerous than sleeping at the wheel - that is, if your guildies realize it and come kick your ass for causing a wipe.

Top 7 gifts for Mother’s Day under $30

If you are a good son or daughter, you bought your Mother’s Day present weeks ago. But, hm, let’s admit some of us are busy or forgetful and we find ourselved looking for gifts at the last moment. Or maybe you’re just looking for an extra something to add to your mother’s pack of goodies. So we put together this handy top 7 affordable gifts for Mother’s Day to help you out.

How to Traumatize your Children7. How to Traumatize your Children. Doesn’t sound like the right present for a mother, but if she has a sense of humor she’ll love it. Plus you can read it with her, make fun of childhood “traumas” (the infamous naked-baby-on-blankie photo?) and share good memories.

Automatic Needle Threader6. Automatic Needle Threader. My mum likes to sew, but her eyesight is not good enough anymore and threading needles is nearly impossible for her without help. An automatic tool to do that would be a great gift for any woman who likes to sew (even without eye problems, threading needles is no fun).

Solar Car Air Purifier5. Solar Car Air Purifier. A gift for smoking mothers. Bad habit, but hey, she’s an adult and she can choose for herself. What you can do is make it a little better for her: cleaner air in the car will mean a more pleasant ride (for her and the passengers).

Grobal Self-Watering Pots4. Grobal Self-Watering Pots. This one is for mothers who like potted plants, but are too busy to spend a lot of time with them. These special pots have to be refilled once in a while and they will “water” the flowers without any input. You mother will be able to do gardening in her own free time without worrying that her plants will wither if she is not around for a couple of days.

Equal Measure3. Equal measure. If your mum is a bit of a geek, but also spends time in the kitchen, she’ll love the combination of useful and useless. What other kitchen utensil can help you bake cookies and teach you what size was the brain of a T-Rex?

Binary Mom t-shirt2. Binary Mom t-shirt. Is your mum even geekier? Well then she needs a t-shirt to proclaim that. In binary. Chances are a mum who knows binary will have friends who do and who’ll appreciate the t-shirt.

Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher1. Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher. We all know our mums work hard to keep us happy, so they should be allowed to indulge themselves a little. Two pieces of toast, one egg, instant breakfast with no effort!

A happy Mother’s Day to mums everywhere and hope this little guide was helpful!

Rainbow Dice Shape Lamp

Rainbow Dice Shape LampI am sure what every every driver needs is a huge glowing color-changing die lamp. No, really.

The Rainbow Dice Shape Lamp plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. When it’s not lighted, it’s only a white not particularly attractive die. When turned on, it shifts through 7 colors.

I don’t see why anyone would want one of these. Extremely tacky romantic atmosphere, perhaps? Take her for a quick grope in the parking lot with rainbow colors swirling in the car? Oh yes, any girl’s fantasy.

20-sided Fuzzy Dice Danglers

20-sided Fuzzy Dice DanglersFuzzy dice are NOT cool. There are still people out there who don’t get this. Really, they’re awful. Let them die already.

Or, if you really really love them, at least get a different model… The 20-sided Fuzzy Dice Danglers are aimed at geeks, who are not known for their sense of fashion anyway. They’ll get weird stares for ordinary people, but fellow geeks will probably appreciate the new take on an old item.

Given how much I hate fuzzy dice, it’s weird that I like these so much. It’s like any item can become cool if you give it a gaming theme. I think risking the ridicule of non-gamers is worth it for that connection you’ll feel when you see the perfect girl with the same dice attached to her rear view mirror. (Yes, I like dreaming.)

Solar Car Air Purifier

Solar Car Air PurifierIt’s not a pleasant feeling for a non-smoker to be in a smoker’s car. Sometimes it’s too cold to open the windows, and smoke still gets inside even with the windows open. Keep this up for a while and you’ll have a pretty foul-smelling vehicle.

It probably can’t clean the air if you chain-smoke in your car for 4 hours a day, but the Solar Car Air Purifier might be that extra something to make your car a more enjoyable place. Since most of us are forced to spend a long time stuck in traffic or commuting, we should try to make that space as comfortable as possible. This purifier can be powered either by solar energy (at least that sun that blinds you on the way to work can be useful for something) or through the cigarette plug. It even comes with its own adhesive tape! (wow.)

This seems to be another of the “look, solar powered, we’re soo green!” variety of pretty-much junk items, but at least it does something useful. Taxi drivers should be forced to get them, all the cabs I get into stink of cigarettes.

4-Port USB Car Charger

4-Port USB Car ChargerThis is another one of those products that are so obviously useful you wonder how come they weren’t around since always.

A 4-Port USB Car Charger, so obvious! So many of our gadgets charge through an USB port and we spend so much of our time in cars, why didn’t this exist before? Anyway, it’s here now, and I’m sure many people will be happy to hear it.

Car/Bike Anti-Theft Device

Car/Bike Anti-Theft DeviceI’m sure that most people think about chains, locks and alarms when they say anti-theft devices. I am one of them, so this left me wondering.

Even though it’s called Car/Bike Anti-Theft Device, this item isn’t a real device. It actually a set of stickers designed to look like rust spots and scratches, and the point is that a thief will think your shabby car or bike isn’t worth stealing.

Does it work? It might. The makers promise nothing, but I like this bit they added to the product description: “However, Dominc has stuck them to his shiny new red bike and can confirm that it hasn’t been stolen yet.” You can try them on your own risk (at least they’re cheap), but I wonder what happens when you want to drive your car without looking like a loser who won’t even bother giving it a new paint job.

Racing Car Computer Screen Cleaner

Racing car computer screen cleanerWhen your screen looks fuzzy, don’t be quick to blame the display manufacturer. Put one finger on the screen, move in a line. If the image suddenly becomes clear, wipe the whole thing and stop being a slob!

Maybe you need an incentive. How about a fluffy car? It’s officially called a Racing car computer screen cleaner, but it’s really a plush car with a soft underside, perfect for picking up dust without scratching your precious electronic equipment. Also good if you have kids and want to teach them to take care of their computer.

Road Pro 12 Volt Sandwich Maker

Road Pro 12 Volt Sandwich MakerBusy people eat fast food. Not healthy, but a fact of life.

Some people invented a device that gives a new meaning to “fast food”. It’s called the Road Pro 12 Volt Sandwich Maker and it is, obviously, a sandwich maker - one you can use in the car. You can plug it into your cigarette lighter socket, it has 5 foot power cord, stuff like that… but my question is why would someone want a sandwich maker in their car?! For making a quick snack while waiting for the green light? Even in a traffic jam, you still have to move the car once in a while, so you won’t have time to make sandwiches.
