Novelty Santa Claus Christmas Stocking 2GB USB Memory Stick

As usual at this time of year, a slew of products are launched for people who don’t want to make any effort to think of a Christmas present. Incidentally, that makes them great for business partners or young cousins who will like the pretty colors, but doesn’t mean anyone can get away with giving them to their wife.

And, again as usual, they come with a really long name, such as Novelty Santa Claus Christmas Stocking 2GB USB Memory Stick. No need to explain what it is or what it looks like. It’s just a random something which is sort of useful and still cheap enough to make bulk gift giving easy.

USB Humping Bunnies

USB Humping BunniesOh boy. Remember the humping dog? (Is there any way to forget the humping dog?!) He’s got friends now. Cute furry animals even more famous for their *ahem* reproductive habbits.

There’s at least one thing that can be said about the USB Humping Bunnies: they look cuter than the dog. But the important part is something else: they come with 1GB of memory. An animal abusing your USB might be fun, but since the dog didn’t offer memory storage it was virtually useless.

Now… cute animals, funny (for people with a certain type of humor) and decent capacity, at a reasonable price? I’m sold.

USB Human Skull Drive

USB Human Skull DriveI’ll make a guess here: you might have a plain silver flash drive, one shaped like a food product or maybe even the infamous humping dog… but you’ve never owned an USB Human Skull Drive.

Unfortunately, it’s not made from a real skull. However, it looks cool. And cheesy, of course, but at least it doesn’t take itself seriously (I hope). The image of a skull plugged into a laptop is pretty unusual and I, for one, like it.

Not that I’d buy one, mind you. But it would complete the bad-boy image of a certain metalhead friend of mine whose birthday is coming up… Seeing his face when he gets this silly gift will be priceless.

Aigo USB drive

Aigo USB driveThere’s no bad timing for getting a new flash drive, right? Especially if it looks interesting and has a decent storage capacity. And, in this case, if you live in Japan.

The Aigo USB drive comes in stylish Apple-like white, in 2 and 4 GB capacities. It can be attached to a lanyard or keychain, but what really sets it apart is its alternate use as paperclip. With the cap on, the drive can do the old trick of keeping papers stuck together… though why you couldn’t just get a paperclip is a bit beyond me.

Interesting idea nonetheless, and handy for when you need to keep the flash drive safe, not lost in the mountain of files on the desk.

Aexea KeyXpress Flash Drive

nameTiny flash drives are very cool if you’ve got a limited amount of space. Bulging pockets look bad, not to mention they’re uncomfortable.

The Aexea KeyXpress Flash Drive doesn’t bring any innovation, but it’s small. Very small (only 2 grams) and easy to carry around, especially since it can be attached to a pair of keys. It comes in three colors (black, green and light blue) and has a slightly less boring shape than the other similar drives - it looks like a key, hence the name.

iBear USB Flash Drive

iBear USB Flash DriveI usually try to stay away from crapgadget sites unless the products are so bad they need making fun of or surprinsigly good. This time… it’s neither. It’s just the cute factor. Sucked me right in and forced me to post.

Really, look how cute the iBear USB Flash Drive. It’s a baby panda! That stores your data! Awww.

And, well, that’s all there is to say. You get 2GB of storage and a cute charm for your backpack or keys. Which might get torn off or stolen, so beware (I had this adorable plushie turtle, I attached it to my bag and one bus ride later it was gone; I still mourn it). Next time you’re at your friend’s place and need to get some pictures you can just disembowel the cute bear and problem solved.

Oh yeah, and you can also get Baby Angel and Baby Devil versions, but they’re not near as cute as the panda.

SanDisk Cruzer Pattern USB Flash Drive

SanDisk Cruzer Pattern USB Flash DriveGo into any computer store and you’ll find a dozen flash drives, so why feature this particular one?

Well… it’s pretty. Really, you can’t do much about storage, you only get a couple of options, but the design can set a flash drive apart from the rest. And the SanDisk Cruzer Pattern USB Flash Drive really is special. Well, at least if you’re a girl or have a thing for flower patterns. I’m both, so I’m drooling over it.

It’s even got a clip! Not that I would consider clipping it to my pocket or strap to show it off (that spells “lost drive”), but it would be very cool if I could attach it to an inside pocket to avoid rummaging for it all the time.

The 2GB storage capacity isn’t that impressive unfortunately, so only buy this if you’re interesting in transfering smaller files. That DVD you just copied? Won’t work, sorry.

Burton Vapor USB Flash Drive

Burton Vapor USB Flash DriveIt’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a flash drive with a really impressive design. Who cares about what a drive looks like? Well, there’s people who want a lot of storage with a good value for money and don’t care about the appearance of their stick, and then there’s people who want to make a fashion/style statement.

The Burton Vapor USB Flash Drive, designed in partnership with snowboard manufacturer Burton, is definitely stylish. Shaped like a snowboard and with a cool black & white design, it just looks different from everything else on the market. It offers the usual 2GB storage and USB 2.0 interface, but it’s the design that sets is apart.

If black is not your thing, you can check out the other two snowboard models available: the Feelgood and the SnowDrive.
