Banana and Peanut Plant Sets

Banana and Peanut Plant SetsHas it ever occured to you that you could grow bananas or peanuts on your desk? Apparently you can, according to the people who make the Banana and Peanut Plant Sets.

I’m a bit doubtful about that, since I know people who have failed in growing less demanding plants, but a try can’t hurt. Who knows, maybe the air in your office is just the thing to make that banana tree grow tall and mighty.

In any case, the sets come with seeds, planting mixture and instructions, and in a couple of years you could harvest the first crop!

Aqua Globes

Aqua GlobesBeing as bad at keeping plants alive as I am, I’ve always paid attention to devices to make my (and their) life easier, and have featured some in the past.

The latest in this series doesn’t work in an intricate way: it simply drips water in the pot little by little, while capturing oxygen. But the Aqua Globes look cool: they’re made from hand blown glass, with a beautiful design, and each pack gets you two globes.

As far as unusual gardening tools go, this wins brownie points for design.

Glowing Garden Glitter & Moon Rocks

Glowing Garden Glitter & Moon RocksGlowing rocks in your garden does sound kind of kitschy, no? When I think of glow-in-the-dark things I tend to imagine something that belongs in a raver party… but once you see what I am talking about, maybe you’ll agree with me that this decoration is quite interesting (in a good way).

Glowing Garden Glitter & Moon Rocks are rocks with embedded luminescent crystals and they look pretty spectacular, without becoming tacky. I don’t think they would work inside (glowing flowerpot by your window? no way!), but they could give a spectacular look to a garden if used properly and tastefully, don’t you agree?

Thirsty Light

Thirsty LightI’m glad there are so many gadgets aimed at inept gardeners. Those of us who would like a plant, but know that getting one means certain death for the poor thing…

It would be easier if plants could yell for water, but unfortunately they can’t speak. However, the Thirsty Light aims to fix that. It measures the amount of water in the soil and, if it isn’t enough, it starts blinking.

It can’t get any easier than that: light blinking means “water me!”. You only need to remember to look at the pot once in a while.

Color Changing Flower Pot

Color Changing Flower PotIf gardening the old-fashioned way is just not hip enough for you, there’s plenty ways to make it more interesting, from the classy to the plain weird.

The Color Changing Flower Pot would fit right in among a couple of plaster angels or some garden gnomes. Or perhaps in a raver party. At the flick of a switch, they phase through the color spectrum, and you can even press a pause button in case you like one color in particular.

Glowy stuff does not fit my idea of “pretty” and I would normally say this is a stupid idea, but… this photo makes it look good. A pink flower pot would look out of place inside, but it seems to work as a garden/patio decoration.
