Sun Jar

Sunshine in a jar? Of course! No, it’s not some kind of magic trick and it’s not a line out of a fairy tale. If only princesses had the privilege to receive sunlight in a bottle from their beloved princes, well, nowadays any normal girl can receive such a gift from her boyfriend. Don’t worry men, you don’t actually have to go to the Sun and probably die trying to catch one of its rays.

The Sun Jar is equipped with a LED light that charges during the day and shines upon your every night. Who said technology can’t be romantic? Everything is watertight, so you can use it both outside and in. Of course, the jar won’t charge unless exposed to direct sunlight. I think this makes a pretty great birthday gift!

The Little Whizzer

I never understood the fascination of the people for small chubby little kids who pee shaped fountains. It baffles me to see them around and I couldn’t find it any more wrong. But if you’re a connoisseur (and please email me if you are, so I can be enlightened), you might put this on your wishlist: The Little Whizzer.

Here’s what the description says: “Inspired by Brussels’ famous Mannekin Pis (“little man piss”) fountain statue, the Little Whizzer liquor dispenser will provide your guests with a funny ( and slightly disturbing ) drinking experience.” “Slightly disturbing” – you’ve got that right!

Engraved rocks

We are all very creative and stuff, but when it comes to birthday or anniversary presents, we find ourselves in quite a bit of a pickle. I like to make gifts that last over time. Something you come across when you clean up and think to yourself “That was a good day!”. And what’s more lasting than a rock?

The team at Etsy gives you the possibility to purchase a custom engraved rock, of the size and color you chose, with the message that you think is appropriate. So , not only is it lasting, but it also has a manual touch. I for one, think this would make a great present.

Adhesive Gift Wrap

Adhesive Gift WrapI spend my time here speaking about gifts but I haven’t touched one subject: wrapping. I like getting nicely wrapped gifts and I like choosing wrapping paper. What I don’t like is the part where I need three hands to fold the paper, keep it in place, tape the ends and make sure I don’t destroy the box in the process.

I am sure I’m not alone. At least Hallmark must’ve thought there was a market segment for people with no wrapping skills, why else would they start selling adhesive gift wrap? It’s a brilliant idea. You just stick it on your box and tada! perfect looks without the trouble. Well, you’ll have to pay attention to air bubbles, but that’s about it.

For now, you can choose from 8 designs suited for most occasions (babies, kids, weddings, formal etc.), but more will probably pop up later.

Top 7 Valentine’s Day presents for him

Most men try to act all tough, but we know that they’re not really like that. He might say that Valentine’s Day is a silly holiday, but it’s about love, after all, and any excuse is good for that. As long as you buy him some gifts that he’ll appreciate (hint: no red hearts, nothing pink), Valentine’s should be a great opportunity to make your relationship better. You don’t have to go over the top – just show him your love. If you’re still not sure what to get him, check out our Top 7 Valentine’s Day presents for your guy.

Circuitboard Coasters7. If you want to get him something he’ll like, but also get a tiny little advantage out of it, consider the Circuitboard Coasters. He might find the supreme geekiness reason enough to use them and stop ruining your table.

FTW! t-shirt6. Men and clothes… usually not a good combination. Clothes are complicated, you have to match the colors and all sorts of useless stuff. The FTW t-shirt is the ideal solution for guys who hate the notion of “fashion”. Black goes with anything and the message tells the world that everything’s going great for him.

LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 Watch5. Do you have a slightly childish (and yet so adorable) boyfriend? Get him a LEGO Star Wars watch. Features two cool things: LEGO (ah, the memories of endless hours of fun) and perhaps the greatest SF saga ever.

Beer Bottle Goblets4. If a man likes beer, it doesn’t mean that he’s a slob or that he spends all his free time in a bar telling dirty jokes to his friends. Beer drinking can be classy too: get your man a set of Beer Bottle Goblets and have a drink with him!

Light Bulb Cufflinks3. Perhaps your boyfriend has to work in a stuffy office. He might not like wearing a suit, but he can’t do anything about it. A small and tasteful accessory could make him feel less like a company drone. The Light Bulb Cufflinks look ordinary most of the time, but when you push a button they light up.

USB Whack It!2. They say every man is a kid at heart and I think there’s a lot of truth in that. You can test the theory by giving him an USB Whack it! and watching the reaction. My money is on “Ooh, a whack-a-mole! I used to love them when I was a kid!”

Dart Blaster1. We mentioned the office and being a young at heart. How about combining them? The Dart Blaster is a toy that can ensure hours and hours of chaos fun at the workplace.
