One of the most annoying design-related things about a cell phone is the lack of a hole for a strap. Why would you forget that? A lanyard makes it easier to find in a bag and more difficult to lose, every model should come with one! Unfortunately, they don’t.

That being said… the Danglet has a good idea behind it, but it goes bad in the end.

In short, it’s a wrist and neck strap adapter for the iPod and iPhone, which is awesome… until you see exactly how it works: by plugging into the connector port. Now I know myself, and I know that I abuse my gadgets, so I don’t think a Danglet would be a good idea. Why risk yanking the cord a bit firmer and damage your port? I’d stick to something safer.

Well, the Sync and Charger cable for iPhone/iPod solves that. An extra battery is expensive, but with the right cable any computer in the area can become an emergency charger. Not the best looking charm around, but it can be easily attached, and it won’t get tangled with all the junk you have in your bag.

It works for all iPhones and iPods and it’s cheap, so if you don’t have a cable or you just want one that’s easier to carry around, there’s no harm in giving this a shot.

The iPhone wasn’t meant to be used to play music through external speakers, so it’s no wonder the sound isn’t stellar. The SoundClip works by directing the sound toward the user for increased volume and clarity, and it also makes games easier to play without blocking the phone’s speaker.

The technical stuff sounds fancy and complicated, with things like “amplifies iPhone audio by 10dB between 3kH and 20kHz, resulting in a cleaner, more accurate response”, but the bottom line is that it boosts sound.

Do you really need it? Honestly, at $7 “need” doesn’t matter. You can just give it a try, it can’t hurt.

Everyone knows it’s not great and most don’t expect wonders.

But since sometimes it’s simply so convenient to use, various accessories that enhance it have been popping up.

Macros aren’t something most people would set out to take with a phone, but if you find a use for it (such as photographing documents instead of carrying them around) the Clarifi iPhone Case with Macro Lens is a very convenient solution.

First off, it’s a case, so even if you end up using the macro function less than you’d expected, you get your money’s worth in the form of a non-bumped-against-walls phone. Second, the lens is built-in, so there’s no extra pieces to fall down and get lost: simply slide it into place to take close-up photos and slide it back for regular operation.

However, if you don’t see yourself needing a macro lens more than a handful of times, don’t bother with this. You can pick up a more interesting case for this money.

If you’re a fan and an iPhone owner, head over to the Apple website to get one of the Paul Frank Silicone Cases for iPhone 3G. There’s 5 models available, three featuring our friend the monkey and two with a pirate theme (yarrr).

Design aside, the case has all the usual features: super-durable silicone, form-fitting, better grip, easy access to all the phone controls, connectors, camera, speakerphone, and microphone, so it makes a pretty nice deal for a designer case.

This winter’s top tech gadget is… the glove?

Sounds silly, but a simple google search will show you there’s gloves with Bluetooth, gloves with iPod controls, gloves designed for the iPhone, USB warming gloves… I’m sure the next thing is gloves with an embedded touchpad so you can use your laptop without your poor hands freezing off. And the scary thing is… they keep coming.

So far, we’ve had the Dots gloves and the Freehands in the “for iPhone” category. The newest addition are the Etre Touchy Gloves, and things are getting sillier.

Yes, you need two fingers to use the touchscreen, but cutting off two fingers off a glove isn’t the ideal solution by far. a) It looks silly; b) What about the time when you don’t want the touchscreen, you just want to be warm?! Three fingers just won’t cut it…

How much under $29.99?
A little: ~$29 on EtreTouchy.com.
