Smiles:-) Wheels

Smiles:-) WheelsFitting wheels on small pieces of furniture can make for easy and quick home redecoration, but most of them are purely functional. If you’re dreaming of the perfect children’s room, a bunch of Smiles:-) Wheels would look much better.

They come in 2 types – with or without brakes – and 4 cute models: cow, bear, mouse and plane. The metallic part can be mounted on virtually any piece of furniture with enough even pieces, but… there’s a but. You pay a (large) premium for having cute cow support your kids’ cabinets: €6.80 for the no-wheel version and €8.77 for the other, which can add up to a lot in the end.

Solar System Floor Puzzle

Solar System Floor PuzzleThe floor is usually covered in boring carpets, but for some lucky kids with cool parents, it could be covered in stars. Well, one star and a bunch of planets.

The Solar System Floor Puzzle is 2 x 3 feet, but doesn’t come with the 5.000 regular pieces that would be needed to cover such a big chunk. 48 big ones is enough to recreate the solar system and, even though for an adult the size might not sound so impressive, kids are bound to have a blast playing and learning.

Because children and cardboard don’t go very well together, the puzzle is 20% thicker than its run of the mill cousins and comes with an easy to wipe surface. I can hear some parents sighing with relief now.

WALL-E Learning Laptop

WALL-E Learning LaptopIt’s time for another installment of “Why didn’t they make things so cool when I was a kid?”.

Little Tommy watches WALL-E. Then he comes home and, look, mummy and daddy got him a new toy! It has keys and things happen when he pushed them!

The WALL-E Learning Laptop is an interactive copy of the animated robot, but its job isn’t cleaning up Earth. It’s meant to help children (ages 4 and up) to develop certain key skills through fun activities, and it addresses 5 areas: letters, words, math, logic and games.

It’s got a flip-down QWERTY keyboard, moving arm controllers and a small LCD screen, enough to be fun but not overly complicated.

Too bad we adults are past the learning-by-playing phase..

Baby Toupees

Baby ToupeesI will never understand why people get the urge to make their pets or kids look silly. It’s a cat, it doesn’t wear dresses or “funny” hats. And babies should more of less wear tiny versions of adult clothes.

Would you go out with a Lil’ Kim wig unless you were Lil’ Kim? Thought so. So why do it to the poor kid? At least if you did it your friends could appreciate you humor (hm), but your baby is too young to have friends…

Baby Toupees are silly at best and idiotic at worst. Either way, “funny” is not a word I would use to describe them. If you feel like playing dress-up, get a doll!

Egg Robot

Egg RobotEggs rock, and I can’t imagine how someone can not like them, but hey, there’s kids who don’t know what’s good for them.

As a way of enticing them, the Egg Robot looks like a great idea, especially when coupled with imaginative parents who can come up with an exciting story around the robot.

“A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…”. Er, wrong story. Then again, if your kid can be coaxed into eating s/he’s probably pretty young and hasn’t seen Star Wars yet. And the robot does look a little bit like R2D2…

Potty Monkey

Potty MonkeyMost toys don’t have a purpose beside entertaining (young or old) children. However, the Potty Monkey does more than just look cute, so there’s got to be a reason for its existence… somewhere, somehow.

To explain: this stuffed monkey has a built-in timer, so every 30 or 90 minutes he asks to go to the toilet. If you help him do it, he says all sorts of cutesy disgusting things about how good he feels (“I feel proud of myself when I pee-pee and poo-poo on the potty.” or “I really like to let the pee-pee out of my tummy. It feels so much better now.” or even “Tinkle, tinkle, and poo-poo. I feel better how ’bout you?”). If you don’t, he’ll plead harder and eventually have an… accident in its diapers.

I suppose the life-goal of Mr. Potty Monkey is to train kids to go to the toilet. I have some doubts it can do that, but I don’t have children, so who am I to say? Maybe it would be even more useful for parents who want to teach big brothers/sisters to help with the new baby. Otherwise, just a silly birthday present for a friend.

iPoo’d Infant Creeper

nameSome people just like their iPods… Some people have taken their love of Apple to the next level. And what better way to do it than make your kid look silly?

The iPoo’d Infant Creeper
is silly – but so adorable! Maybe some people will think you’re crazy, but just think of those who will appreciate the humor. It comes into 3 sizes (6 months, 12 months and 18 months), so you can subject your kid to Apple-ness for a long long time (and the creeper tells an undeniable truth).

Scarring him for life? Nah… But it might make him hate Apple if you show pictures of him in the iPoo’d creeper to his friends when he’s older.

Teeny Towels Mini Wipes

Teeny Towels Mini WipesI think small things are cute (and I’ve heard all the jokes, you can save them). I like miniatures and all things similar… which doesn’t mean most of them aren’t useless.

Today’s item is very cute and somewhat useful: Teeny Towels Mini Wipes. Wet wipes are a very useful item, but I’m not sure what you can do with these. Then again, they might just look too small in the photo. They are aimed at children (or, more accurately, at parents using them to clean up their kids), so as long as they’re not smaller than a child’s hand, I suppose they’re ok. One pack contains two dispensers and four refills each with seven wipes.

The big plus is that they can double as a keychain or be attached to a purse (or diaper bag). No more endlessly searching for that one towel you know you have left and finding everything else.
