The Little Lamp

Little LampWhat do you do with a battery? Power your mp3 player… get another and power your remote… but a lamp?!

Well, a Little Lamp at least. The “lamp” consists of a battery, a LED and a shade. Technically, it is a lamp I suppose, but I really do not see how it can be used. Yes, it gives up to 150 hours of light on a single battery, but you can’t really light anything up with it. Maybe the doll house?

I like miniature things, but at least most of them don’t pretend to do anything. I think you’d be better off learning some electronics and setting up your own battery lamp instead of paying $15 for this.

Lightbulb Phone Charm

Lightbulb Phone CharmHaving something to hang off my mobile phone is not a priority of mine - actually, I think it would bother me. And I’ve seen so many ugly phone charms… no thank you.

But wait. There’s one I really like. The Lightbulb Phone Charm is small(er), it looks nice, and it lights up to discreetly let you know that you have an incoming call. Much better than making all the world listen to your new loud and annoying ringtone, right? Please agree with me.

USB Memo Lamp

USB Memo LampI wasn’t familiar with the concept of ambient lights until recently, but I’ve found that I like it. So this next item is sort of intriguing.

It’s an USB Memo Lamp, which means it’s a combination between an ambient light and a memo pad (and it’s USB powered, of course, nothing is cool anymore unless it has an “USB” in the title). It comes with a special pen you can use to write on it and then easily wipe the message off.

Useful or not? I can’t decide. It looks pretty cool, but the memo-feature is a bit baffling. We’ve got memo pads and sticky notes and all that, why write on a big round thing with lights? Well, perhaps because it’s more difficult to ignore/forget about. I never read my sticky notes.

LockLite

LockLiteParanormal activity probably occurs in the vicinity of my block of flats, because once every 2 weeks the lightbulb in front of the door stops working. Unfortunately, said door is in a dark area, so finding the right key and then unlocking the door turns into a small adventure.

How I wish I had the LockLite this evening… The concept is very simple: you slip a stainless steel cap over your key, press the button on it and a powerful LED lights up, enabling you to find your keys and the key hole. It works up to 3 meters, so you can also use it as a flashlight if the way to your door is longer.

Diamond Ring Key Squeeze Light

Diamond Ring Key Squeeze LightThe light in front of my building tends to work once every two days or so, therefore I often play that game we all know and hate - “find the keys in the bag”.

I could use one of these. The Diamond Ring Key Squeeze Light has a very powerful LED which you can use to shine some light inside you bag or purse and hopefully avoid freezing to death in front of your front door.

The thing I don’t like is the diamond ring “theme”. I want a light, not a glittery fake-leather thing with a diamond on it. This is taking girly too far. But hey, at least it’s cheap!
