Laptop Mouse Protective Case

If something is pink, does it automatically become a Valentine’s Day gift? I sure hope the designers of the Laptop Mouse Protective Case weren’t thinking about that, because if there’s one thing that can get a guy dumped for sure it’s this.

Why would anyone need a cover for their mouse? Ok, they at least thought to give it holes for the optic sensor and the cable, but that doesn’t make it useful for anything other that… I don’t know, maybe doing the Dakar with a group of ditzy blondes who want everything to match their hair accessories?

Please don’t touch this. Or if you do, buy it for yourself, don’t inflict it on anyone.

USB Waterproof Mouse

How often do you feel the need to wash your mouse? Except for the odd spilled coffee accident, it stays perfectly dry and if it’s really necessary you can wipe it with some alcohol.

So I was wondering why someone would want an USB Waterproof Mouse. And then… I zoomed in a photo. It looks cool. Very cool. A black mouse covered in silicone with no obvious buttons is awesome. And the buttons do exist, 5 of them no less, more than I had expected from a run-of-the-mill novelty mouse.

I still think making it waterproof is pretty silly and useless, but this time the side effects were better than the actual purpose of the thing.

USB SDHC Card Reader + Mouse

One of the best thing about the newer laptops is that they come with built-in card readers. Extra camera cables or external devices are a pain, so being able to just insert a card in a gadget you’re already using is bliss.

That’s why the USB SDHC Card Reader + Mouse could’ve been a good idea. Some people really don’t need a high quality mouse, and adding a card reader inside a peripheral is just so convenient.

However, this will only be useful if all your gadgets use SD or microSD cards. And in this day and age when we all have so many gadgets, what are the odds of all of them using the same format?

USB Golf Mouse Set

I’ll start by stating the obvious: the USB Golf Mouse Set is ugly. It’s got a mouse shaped like a golf ball – only a bit flatter -, a green mouse pad, a flag, a small golf ball and a club.

If you’re very, excruciatingly, extremely bored at work it could offer a couple of minutes of entertainment… Or maybe more if you’re a golf fan. But the shape of the pad and the flag poking out of it probably make it pretty difficult to use, and the shape of the mouse isn’t ergonomic.

However, the mouse is the only worthwhile piece of the set, it looks kind of cool and I guess it could work as a gift for a golfer. But only if you’re a cheapskate.

A mouse trap for a mouse… Makes perfect sense. So why not a Mousetrap mousepad for a computer mouse?
(If you can get more “mouse” in a sentence, you get a prize.)

I always love a nice pad on my desk, it’s a way of decorating it with useful items, and this is one of the best I’ve seen.

It looks very realistic, at least in the photo, but it won’t harm your pointing device. (Unless you bang it against the pad and the desk underneath, of course.) You can use it as a warning to colleagues (“My mouse, my desk, do not touch”), but I think they will be too intrigued not to check it out.

If you want to be as green as possible in all aspects of your life, it probably is a bit difficult to also be a geek, since most gadgets don’t really go together with recycling.

But there’s some hope: at least you can have an eco-friendly mouse. The Recycled Mini Wireless Mouse from Google is made from recycled plastic and even comes in recycled packaging. However, other than that and the Google logo… it’s just a below-average mouse. A scroll wheel with 800 dpi resolution, 3 buttons and a built-in wifi dongle. Plus, it’s ugly. Really.

I’m sorry, Mother Nature, but I’m online 10 hours/day, I need a real mouse or I’ll go nuts.
