Even computer geeks have to eat from time to time. No, you cannot live solely on chips. And, in order for food to taste good, it needs one or more condiments. Let’s stick to the basics for now: salt and pepper.
But you wouldn’t want to get confused in that foreign land the kitchen is… so get something familiar. The PC Keyboard Salt and Pepper Shakers are shaped like a P and an S key, respectively, and they have two different colors so you can tell them apart easily. The white stuff goes in the white shaker, the dark stuff goes in the black shaker. It’s easy.

Our mothers and grandmothers probably didn’t have a wide range of kitchen products to choose from, so we’re making up for it. I for one am thrilled by the number of funny, useful or weird kitchen items available.
Salt and pepper shakers seems to be one of the areas designers concentrate their efforts on. We had shakers that doubled as torches and shakers that shook themselves, and today allow me to introduce the Star Shakers. No, they don’t do anything extra, they just look cool. Your grandma probably won’t appreciate a pair of retro-style porcelain rockets on her table, but your geek friends or your kids will love them (geeks, kids… they often have the same tastes, have you noticed?)
I’m not sure if the price isn’t too high, but at least they’re made from a sturdy material and will last for a long while.

Is salt and pepper shakers the new niche for products with useless features? We previously featured the Movers and Shakers (that is, shakers that shake themselves).
Today… the Mini Lantern Salt and Pepper Shakers. The catch: each comes with three white LED bulbs, so they can double as lighting devices. They are not really pointless, but for the very narrow range of occassions they can be used, I don’t know if they’re worth the money. I mean, who regularly throws nighttime picnics or barbecues?

At least once a week I find an item that makes me think “People can’t be that lazy!”. But I’m starting to believe I’m wrong - why would people design products no one would use?
So there’s got to be a perfect customer for the Movers and Shakers Salt and Pepper Shakers. What do they have to do with laziness? Well, it looks like the task of shaking an object in order to get salt on your food is too much of a effort for some, so now you just have to pull a cord and the shaker… shakes itself.
Really. I am hoping no one buys this as more than an amusing gift or a friendly jab towards a lazy someone. No one can actually want to use this. Right?…
