3 Large Alien Heads tie

3 Large Alien Heads tieThe three wise monkeys embody a Japanese principle that’s also well-known in the Western world: “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”. We’d probably be better off if we applied that more.

I hadn’t heard about the three wise aliens before, but here they are, bringing us intergalactic principles of conduit. The 3 Large Alien Heads tie features three of the most “popular” type of aliens - greys, although they’re actually green here - so it’s a cool gift for UFO fan(atic)s. The mix of sci-fi and old Japanese tradition gives it a certain appeal.

I’m not a big fan of geeky ties, but I like the little aliens for some reason. And if you’re going to wear a tie (ew) you might as well make it a funny one…

Dress For Dinner Napkins

Dress For Dinner NapkinsFew people really enjoy formal dinners. There’s some who like dressing up and socializing like/with the high class, but most of us normal people see them as an uncomfortable or awkward situation. If you’re used to hanging around in your jeans and a t-shirt, having to wear a suit or an evening dress might make you feel like a fish out of the water.

The Dress For Dinner Napkins are not an alternative for a tie. Nope, you won’t get away with something like this at a real fancy dinner, but they are a very cool way of poking fun at such occasions. You can wear the most raggedy t-shirt in your wardrobe… but hey, it’s a tie, it’s elegant! Right?

And you can even show your concern about apperance by not wearing the same tie every night: there’s five designs to choose from.

Pixel Silk Tie

Pixel Silk TieMost of my male friends are techy, and most of them wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a tie. I sympathize, since they seem really uncomfortable, but I admit that sometimes the dress code requires it. And, since you’re forced to wear it, at least let it be cool.

I think the best thing about the Pixel Silk Tie is the fact that it doesn’t scream “I’m a geek!”. Yes, they’re pixels, but if you’re not into computers, you’ll just think it has an unusual pattern. Fellow techies will recognize you as one of your own, but you won’t risk being singled out in a meeting (like you might with a Star Trek tie, for example). This also makes it suitable for older geeks who have to cope with the “real world” (Father’s Day gift, maybe?).

Star Trek tie

Star Trek tieI fail to understand the attractiveness of Star Trek, but it’s undeniable that it was one of the first big SF series and that it has millions of fans worldwide. Geeks used to be notorious for their lack of success with girls, but things have changed.

However, if you miss those days when all the hot girls laughed at you, try this one out. A Star Trek tie. Ok, you might want to have McCoy, Spock and Kirk on your chest for some reason… but does the design have to be so ugly? Sorry, I’ve seen geeky ties, I like geeky ties, but only if they actually look good.

Heh, and I just gave the link to a friend and he loves it. It’s a matter of taste in the end. (But no guy wearing something like this will get near me.)
